Logistical Services
1. How can payments be made to the local service providers while not yet in Tanzania?
Majority of service providers we engage with, accept credit cards and wire transfer. Some service providers accept payment in person on arrival. FSSP personnel can facilitate the coordination between the visitor and service providers
2. Can PwC/FSSP provide a letter to support incoming and/ or outgoing scholars?
No. Due to contractual obligations, PwC/FSSP is not expected to be issuing support letters. PwC/FSSP can assist in confirming the requirements with the authorities and advising the missions on the best way to process entry and stay permits.
3. Can the students be regarded as volunteers?
No. “Volunteers” is another group of incoming foreigners and most of the time it is relevant for people coming in a working capacity and are attached to NGOs. Students can either be fully engaged in studies or research.
4. Is there any possibility of obtaining the Residence Permit Class C for students/ researchers from their country of origin?
No. All Residence permits are processed in-country and for many foreigners it is through agencies.
5. Possibility of paying visa/permit processing fees direct to the Tanzanian Embassy in the applicant`s country or Government of Tanzania`s Account in Tanzania while still in their countries?
No. All payments for visas and permits are done within the country using NMB Account. Visitors obtaining their entry visa at the Airport also pay on arrival. Most foreigners get their permit fees paid locally by their hosts or agents.
6. Can a need for Resident Permit Class C when on just 3 months replacement and where a candidate already has the single-entry visa valid for the same period be considered?
Yes. All students and researchers need to have the resident permit class C processed even if they will be in the country for the said 3 months.
7. In The Immigration’s website they also indicate a need for the re-entry visa. Is this applicable for students/scholars entering the country for a specific mission and period without a need for returning to the country in between their mission period?
All students and / or researcher, regardless of their actual needs for re-entry, need to process and obtain the re-entry pass that will allow them to exit and re-enter the country during the validity of their resident permits. The fees for this pass is US$ 50 and unavoidable.
8. Is the single-entry visa necessary for all students/scholars or researchers?
The Resident Permit Class C can be processed by a host or agent in the country prior to a student and/ or researcher leaving their country. With all the documentation in hand, they will be allowed entry without a need for the single-entry visa.
9. Is it possible for a local hosting institute to process all the residence permit requirements without use of a local agent?
It is practically very difficult for a student or University with no agent in the country to process the permit timely due to need of close follow up necessitating a physical presence.
